Chelmsford Public School - No Better Place to Be
Chelmsford Public School serves the town of Rayside-Balfour including the communities of Azilda and Chelmsford north to Morgan Road and west to Vermillion Lake Road.
With an enrollment of approximately 266 students, Chelmsford Public School offers both English and French Immersion programs from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 with two special needs classes. The programming in the ASD class develops life and self-advocacy skills as well as literacy and numeracy skills in primary and junior students. The Section 23 class provides behavioural support, social skills, as well as literacy and numeracy skills to primary students.
Many extra-curricular activities and special events such as the guitar club, green club, student council, healthy eating, spirit days, Science and Health Fair, choir, homework club, intramural and extramural sports and many others enrich a student’s life at Chelmsford Public School. These activities build team and school spirit and are supported by a strong parent and community partnership.
Chelmsford Public School has earned provincial recognition for its focus on daily physical activity. The school has received the Platinum Award from the Canadian Association for Health and Physical Education and Dance for its Quality Physical Education Program for five consecutive years. This is a tribute to our dedicated staff and committed students. The school also received the Outstanding Intramural Achievement Award from CIRA-Ontario.
Licensed childcare services are offered at Chelmsford Public School through Our Children Our Future’s pre-school care program, full day childcare and before and after school program.
Character education is an important part of the curriculum at Chelmsford Public School, including Pay It Forward. The school has initiated several programs to assist students by actively promoting and rewarding positive behaviour.
