Policies

It is the policy of the Board that a school is a place that promotes responsibility, respect, civility and academic excellence in a safe learning and teaching environment.

All students, parents and staff have the right to be safe and feel safe in their school community. With this right comes the responsibility to be law-abiding citizens and to be accountable for actions that put at risk the safety of others or oneself.

The Rainbow District School Board believes that every student has the right to an education without disruption, along with the equally important responsibility not to deny this right to any other student. This Code of Conduct has been updated according to Bill 212 amendments to the safe schools provisions of the Education Act.

Behavioural Expectations

The Rainbow District School Board’s Discipline Policy focuses on encouraging positive student behaviour. It is expected that a firm, fair and consistent application of this policy shall prevail at Little Current Public School

When a student is unable to manage his/her behaviour, and chooses to disregard Little Current’s Code of Behaviour, the following are a range of interventions (not necessarily in order) which will be applied to encourage compliance with school rules.

Beliefs

Our school believes that:

Students, staff and community have the right to learn and work in a healthy and safe environment that is free from violence and harassment.

Parents are responsible for the health, safety, security and upbringing of their children and are ultimately responsible for their children's behaviour and socialization.

Students, staff and parents will treat each other with respect.

Character Education

Little Current enhances the learning potential of our young people as successful students, caring people and responsible community members.

We encourage and promote character traits including responsibility, honesty and respect. Great learning and superior ability are of little value unless honour, truth and integrity are added to them.
