Hello, my name is Jodie Larsen and I am your new School Council Chair for the 2011/2012 school year. I greatly look forward to this role and promoting Walden Public School's mission and core values. For those of you who don't know me, I have two children at Walden Public School in grade 4 and have been a member of School Council since they were in JK at Jessie Hamilton. I strongly believe that the school – home relationship is a vital one and it proves to our children how important their education is to us as parents and care givers. Of course school isn't just a place where our children learn the standard curriculum, it is a home away from home, after all our children spend upwards of 1170 hours per school year here. It's where all children should feel happy, safe, secure and accepted by staff and students. Friendships are forged in school, character is built in school, a strong work ethic is formed in school. Walden Public School continually strives to be that reputable, character-building, safe, healthy, warm-hearted educational environment. And for that, I am so proud that my children are a part of this great school in this wonderful community of ours.
I urge you to feel welcome to attend any of our Council meetings and bring forth any questions, comments or concerns you may have.
Thank you.
Jodie Larsen
