Beginner:  

John has 400 spaghetti strands, each 15 cm long, on his lunch plate. If he joined them end to end (using sauce as glue) to form one long strand, the lenght of his lunch would be

a) 6 km      b) 60 m      c) 600 cm      d) 6 000mm     e) 60 000cm

 

Intermediate:

 

While waiting for the school bus, Sally plays a counting game. After taking two steps forward, she must take one step backward. She wishes to reach a tree which is seven steps away from her. Using this rule, what is the least number of steps she must take to reach the tree.

 

Expert:

 

One year a basketball team played 180 games. they never lost more than 3 games in arow and never won more than 5 games in a row. The number of games the team won must have been.

 

a) no more than 36     b) no more than 45      c) no more than 135      d) no more than 150     e) 111
