EHS PREFECTS
There have
been Prefects at EHS for at least the past 30 years. During that time,
the range of activities that Prefects have been involved in has grown
dramatically.
The goals
of the EHS Prefects are to help create a more pleasant school environment
and to serve as role models for their fellow students. Prefects are
students in grades 11 and 12 who have been recommended by staff members
and approved by the administration because of their enthusiasm, responsible
behaviour, and commitment to school. When applying for a position
as a Prefect, each student agrees to act as a suitable role model
for their fellow students, maintain acceptable grades in their classes,
and follow the EHS Code of Student Behaviour. Each student also commits
to spending a half of one lunch period every week helping out in the
school.
EHS Prefects
perform a wide variety of tasks throughout the school all year long.
Most notably they assist the cafeteria supervisors, help out in the
library, and work in the main office during lunch hour every day.
Prefects also act as greeters and guides during parent-teacher interviews
and at graduation. They help the Guidance Department to set up for
College and University Days, and assist the college and university
representatives during these information sessions. They assist the
photographer during Picture Day and during Grad Photo sessions. Whenever
Prefects are asked to volunteer their time for a school-related event,
they respond generously – even on short notice!
Prefects also
raise money for a scholarship for graduates, gifts for Prefects who
are graduating, the Prefect-of-the-Year plaque and gift, and their
year-end trip. They hold various fund-raising activities throughout
the year to raise money for their cause. Prefects are as generous
in volunteering their time for fund-raising as they are in donating
their time to the school.
As you can
see, Prefects are very dedicated, energetic, and enthusiastic students
who do their best to make their school a better place in which to
work and learn!

interested in joining the Prefects are asked to contact Mrs.
