Co-Operative Education
Course Description
What co-op provides for a student:
- 1. The experience of hands on training within the workforce;
- 2. Helps with the realization of future career and goals;
- 3. Communication with people that already have the experience in the field;
- 4. Possibility of future employment;
- 5. Obtaining an apprenticeship from placements and also apprenticeship continuations; and
- 6. Multiple Co-operative Education credits can be taken.
Awards/Bursaries:
- 7. Some financial bursaries for post-secondary education
- 8. YMCA Award-presented to graduating student during commencements
- 9. Specific graduation awards for OYAP students (those students who are in a skilled trade)
Co-op teachers, Mrs. Gauthier and Mrs. Sintic are willing to help find the right placement for students. They work with students to provide knowledge and personal reflection on obtaining an ideal Co-op placement.
