First graduation for Barrydowne College takes place June 20th
A milestone will be celebrated at Cambrian College on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 when the first group of students graduates from Barrydowne College. The ceremony will take place in the Student Centre from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. A total of 59 students will receive an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
“It has been an incredible first year for Barrydowne College,” said Principal Maureen McNamara “The partnership between Rainbow District School Board and Cambrian College has provided an opportunity for teachers to work as a team to assist students. Students overcame challenges, demonstrating perseverance and commitment to their future.”
“The entire population at Barrydowne has come together to create a community of learners that are motivated to not only graduate, but to see their dreams come true, either by moving on to a postsecondary program or by entering the workplace,” added Principal McNamara. “Ideally located, Cambrian College establishes a comfortable environment, and, as a result, many students have applied to the college. We are very proud of all of our graduates and wish them continued success.”
Barrydowne College offers a unique learning environment for young adults, ages 17 to 20, who want to go back to school. Students obtain credits towards their secondary school diploma in a non-traditional environment that offers small class sizes and individualized instruction. Students have flexible schedules, many ways to earn credits, work at their own pace and receive support from qualified teachers. Students can register at any time.
There are currently 226 students enrolled at Barrydowne College.
