Summer School


Secondary Program

Summer School courses are remedial courses. Secondary students must have completed the course with a minimum mark of 35% during the current academic year to attend Summer School. Co-op is an exception to this rule. Summer Co-op students can obtain one new Co-op credit linked to a course they have already completed.

Courses offered in Summer School include English, math, science, French, history and geography.

Dates:
The program will commence on Monday, July 4, 2011 and run through to Friday, July 29, 2011.

Time:
During the first week of the program, period 1 classes will run from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and period 2 classes from 10:45 a.m. to 1:15 pm.

Class times change on July 11 to the end of Summer School and run from 8:30 am to 10:30 am and 10:45 am to 12:45 pm.

Location:
Secondary Summer School will take place at Lasalle Secondary School, 1545 Kennedy Street in Sudbury, and is open to all students from both public and separate schools.

Elementary Program

Summer School at the elementary level offers a remedial program for students in Grades 7 and 8 struggling with language and mathematics expectations. Successful completion of the program may be a condition for promotion to the next grade.


Dates:
The program will commence Friday, July 4, 2011 and run through Friday, July 22, 2011.

Times:
Classes will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon each day.

Location:
All summer school programs are held at Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School.

How to register

Students can register by contacting their home school by June 30, 2011. The last day to register for Summer School is Monday, July 4, 2011, in person, at Lasalle Secondary School.

Board transportation is not available for Summer School.  Transportation must be provided by students or their parents/guardians.
