Queen Elizabeth II Public School is a small inner-city, elementary school with approximately 180 students located in the Flour Mill - Adjacent to Ryan Heights, bounded on the north by Frood Road, west to Kathleen Street, east to the end of Cambrian Heights Drive and extending south to Mountain Street and the area on the south side of Notre Dame. The Q.E. area includes Ryan Heights, Cabot Park, Cambrian Heights and Prism, and Lighthouse and Ashwood Co-op’s.

Working in partnership with Better Beginnings, Better Futures (BBBF), a community-based organization devoted to creating a strong, safe environment for the children of the Flour Mill and Donovan, Q.E. is able to offer students an Early Bird Program which provides a nutritious breakfast and recreational activities and an After school Program, Kid’s Club that runs everyday after school hours.  With a large number of “First Nation” students, Queen Elizabeth II offers an Ojibwa Language Program for students in grades 1-6. We have an active School Advisory Council that meets at least four times per year to discuss a variety of important school related issues.

Queen Elizabeth II Public School believes in the basics. Our curriculum emphasizes READING, WRITING and MATHEMATICS providing a solid foundation for future learning. Our school has had a strong focus on developing future writers and building literacy skills for all our young learners.  Queen Elizabeth II also offers the new Early Learning Program for our 4 and 5 year olds with a classroom teacher and Early Childhood Educator in the classroom supporting a play based learning environment.  We also recognize the importance of character development by actively promoting Rainbow District’s character traits and rewarding positive behaviours.  There are other partnerships designed to promote positive character development, such as the implementation of Roots of Empathy which develops empathy in students and the V.I.P. program (Values, Influences and Peers) in partnership with the Greater Sudbury Police Service which teaches junior students important values to help develop strong character.  Staff and students also extend their community responsibility by participating in the Terry Fox Run and Hoops for Heart.

Queen Elizabeth II provides a strong co-curricular program with a variety of activities and a staff that are second to none.

Queen Elizabeth II students are prepared for the future ahead because of the skills and values practiced here at school.  Friendships made and lessons learned will prepare us for all that lies ahead!
