Home of the Royals

Queen Elizabeth II Public School is a small inner-city JK-Grade 6 elementary school with approximately 190 students. Our school is located in the Flour Mill, adjacent to Ryan Heights, bounded on the north by Frood Road, west to Kathleen Street, east to the end of Cambrian Heights Drive and extending south to Mountain Street and the area on the south side of Notre Dame. The surrounding area includes Ryan Heights, Cabot Park, Cambrian Heights and Prism, and Lighthouse and Ashwood Co-op’s.

A partnership with Better Beginnings, Better Futures (BBBF), a community-based organization devoted to creating a strong, safe environment for the children of the Flour Mill and Donovan. Our partnership allows Queen Elizabeth II students to enjoy a nutritious breakfast and afternoon snack at no cost. Better Beginnings, Better Futures also offers a Before and After School Program within the school, as well as, a Teen Club at O’Connor Park.

With a large number of students identifying as Indigenous, Queen Elizabeth II offers an Ojibwe Language Program for students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. In addition, we have an active School Council that meets at least four times per year to discuss a variety of important school-related issues.

Queen Elizabeth II Public School believes in the basics. Our curriculum emphasizes reading, writing and mathematics and provides a solid foundation for future learning. Our school has a strong focus on mathematics and continues to focus on developing future writers and building strong literacy skills. Queen Elizabeth II also offers the all day every day Kindergarten program for our four and five-year-olds, with a classroom teacher and Early Childhood Educator in the classroom supporting a play- based learning environment.

We also recognize the importance of character development by actively promoting Rainbow District School Boards’ character traits and rewarding our students for positive behaviours. In addition, Students are praised and celebrated for their regular acts of kindness. Staff and students also demonstrate their community mindedness by participating in the Terry Fox Run, Jump Rope for Heart and the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive.

Queen Elizabeth II provides a strong co-curricular program with a variety of activities and a staff that are second to none.

Because of the skills and values practiced here at school, Queen Elizabeth II students are prepared for the future ahead! Friendships made and lessons learned will prepare our lion heart “Royals” for all that lies ahead!
