Churchill opens their hearts for Maison Vale Hospice

Churchill Public School hosts its Kick-Off Assembly for their 5th RBC Hike for Hospice in support of Maison Vale Hospice. “The Maison Vale Hospice is a very special facility,” expresses Leslie Chisholm-Paul, Educational Assistant at Churchill Public School. The Hospice runs on donations from the community, with every penny staying in Sudbury. They are in need of everyone’s help, so we at Churchill have decided for the 5th year in a row, to make a difference by raising as much money as we can for this amazing place and the incredible people who work there. Our partnership with the Maison Vale Hospice is a very special relationship. The Hospice motto, ‘For what matters at the end of life is not so much to add days to life, but to add life to the remaining days,’ has truly had a positive effect on our students and staff. This motto helps everyone strive to be the best person they can be and inspires Churchill Public School to help those in need of this little piece of heaven on earth.”

Since 2012, Churchill Public School has raised over $50,000 with their very own RBC Hike for Hospice to raise funds for Maison Vale Hospice. They will be holding their own Hike, on Friday April 29th, 2016 with the goal to raise $13,003, which is $1 more than last year. In addition to
their own RBC Hike for Hospice, Churchill Public School will be hosting a number of events in their dedication to raising funds for Maison Vale Hospice. The events include school dances, hot-dog sales, dress-up theme days, volleyball tournaments with RBC, Churchill Public School Staff, and Rainbow District School Board Staff, a Churchill Staff Blood Donor Clinic, and a Boston Pizza Night on Wednesday, April 27th from 5pm – 8pm with 10% of all food sales donated towards the Hospice.

“We would like to thank all our Churchill community and community partners, which include Coniston Valu-Mart, Doyle’s Marketplace, Weston Bakery, and 2nd Avenue Home Hardware, who help us in our fundraising each year with their donations,” says Leslie. “Without the help of the community, we would not be able to make our Churchill Public School Hikes such a great success.”
