Small act, big impact: Rainbow students join together to spread kindness

Since the beginning of the school year, Kindergarten students from R.L. Beattie Public School have made it their mission to spread kindness.

They joined the Kindness Ninjas family – a global movement where children give to others without the expectation of something in return.

To deepen their experience, students partnered with a Grade 11 French Immersion class at Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School, who became honourary Kindness Ninjas.

In the spirit of the holiday season, students from both classes joined forces to complete a random act of kindness – by posting kind notes on student lockers.

“They worked together to write positive messages on paper hearts and placed them throughout the school,” says Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School teacher Sylvie Tripp. “Through this rich learning experience, students are honing collaboration and communication skills that will serve them for years to come.”

Shorlty after, they partnered once again to spread kindness within their school community, by handing out kind notes and candy canes to customers at the Algonquin Square plaza.

“Students could see first-hand the impact their acts of kindness had on others,” says teacher Sylvie Tripp. “They are developing new relationships and creating lasting memories.”

“I am so proud of both groups of students for working together to spread happiness and good cheer,” says R.L. Beattie Public School Principal Kelly McCauley. “These small gestures go a long way in brightening someone’s day.”
