Board congratulates winners of the Technological Skills Competition

Rainbow District School Board held its 16th annual Technological Skills Competition at Cambrian College on March 1, 2023. Over 120 secondary school students tested their skills in 2D and 3D Character Animation, Architectural Technology and Design, Auto Service Technology, Cabinetmaking, Carpentry, Coding, Electrical Installations, Home and Team Building, Mechanical CAD, Photography, Outdoor Powered Equipment, TV/Video Production and Welding.

Students were vying for the opportunity to compete at the North East Qualifier on April 1st in North Bay or the Skills Ontario Competition on May 2nd and 3rd in Toronto.

“This year’s Technological Skills Competition was very successful,” said Dana Pratt, Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program Co-ordinator with Rainbow District School Board. “Each competition provided students with the opportunity to solve problems, be creative and explore viable career options in the skilled trades.”

“On behalf of Rainbow District School Board, I extend sincere congratulations to all students who participated in this year’s competition,” said Board Chair Bob Clement. “We wish you continued success as you vie for gold against the best in the province.”

Rainbow District School Board salutes the many staff members who worked diligently to make this event possible. The Board also acknowledges the generosity of community partners who contribute financially for the local competitions, including new tools, materials and transportation for students to compete at the Skills Ontario Competition.
