Foodanse: Lansdowne Public School launches innovative food drive challenge

Students at Lansdowne Public School have pumped up the volume and busted out some dance moves to challenge schools to take part in the Edgar Burton Christmas Food Drive.

The initiative is called “Foodanse”, with food in English and dance in French to highlight both English and French Immersion programs at the school.

To kick-start the challenge, students in Grades 1, 2 and 3 collected non-perishable food items for one week.

A dance video was then produced to invite two other schools to participate. Once schools accept the challenge, the cycle continues.

“The Foodanse challenge instills generosity and encourages global citizenship. We want our students to realize that even though they are young, small actions can make a big difference, ” says Lansdowne Public School Principal Lisa Piquette.

She adds: “It’s a fun, active and meaningful way for staff and students in Rainbow Schools to pay it forward this holiday season.”
