January 17: CVDCS hosts Information Night for Grade 8 students

Grade 8 students and their parents/guardians are invited to an Information Night at Chelmsford Valley District Composite School on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 6 pm. All students are invited to participate regardless of which elementary school they currently attend.

“Chelmsford Valley District Composite School students have access to many opportunities in arts, athletics and academics,” says Principal Patrick Hopkin. “Our community school also offers innovative programs that combine in-class learning with hands-on experience.”

Students can explore a Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in one of three sectors: Arts and Culture – Community Based Culture, Construction – Carpentry Techniques, and Health and Wellness – Exercise Physiology and Health. These Ministry approved programs allow students to focus their studies on a specific economic sector while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Students can also enrol in two and four-credit programs through Co-op, Dual Credits and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP). In these programs, students experience the exciting world of work, which opens doors for the future.

Chelmsford Valley District Composite School has been revitalized to create a Kindergarten to Grade 12 school offering JK to Grade 8 (English and French Immersion) and Grade 9 to 12 (English Program). Renovations include a bright new entrance, updated libraries and classrooms, and a second gym.

“We pride ourselves on being a dynamic community school,” says Principal Hopkin. “Everyone is welcome to join us on January 17th as we continue to build on our rich tradition of excellence.”
