January 27: Chelmsford Valley District Composite School Virtual Information Night

Grade 8 students and their parents/guardians are invited to tune in to Chelmsford Valley District Composite School’s Virtual Information Night on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 7 pm. The presentation will be available at cvdcs.rainbowschools.ca. All students are invited to participate regardless of which elementary school they currently attend.

“Students and families will have the opportunity to navigate the diverse and innovative programs and opportunities offered to our students,” says Principal Danielle Williamson. “Everyone is welcome to join us online.”

In addition to arts, athletics and academics, students can explore the field of health services with a Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Health and Wellness. CVDCS also offers SHSMs in Trades as well as Arts and Culture.

SHSMs are Ministry approved programs where students focus their studies on a specific economic sector while meeting the requirements of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. For example, in Health and Wellness, real life experiences support literacy and numeracy development and allow students to explore all aspects of healthcare and medical technologies, including Indigenous perspectives.

Students can also enrol in two and four-credit programs through Co-operative Education, Dual Credits and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP). Through these programs, students experience the exciting world of work.

Chelmsford Valley District Composite School has been retrofitted to create a Kindergarten to Grade 12 school offering JK to 8 (English and French Immersion) and Grade 9 to 12 (English Program). The retrofit includes LED lighting with occupancy sensors, a building automation system and new energy efficient roof top units for heating and cooling. Renovations also include a new entrance, as well as updated libraries, classrooms and a high school gym.

Nestled in the heart of a progressive agricultural area, Chelmsford Valley District Composite School students enjoy expanded teaching and learning opportunities in this sector.
