Lively District Secondary School hosts Open House on November 30th

Students in Grades 6 and 8 and their parents/guardians are invited to the Lively District Secondary School Open House on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 6 pm.

Lively District Secondary School provides French Immersion programming to students in Grades 7 and 8, and the English Program to students in Grades 9 to 12.

“Students and families are invited to learn about life at Lively with a tour of the school and our exceptional facilities,” says Principal Susan Kett. “Students can also speak with staff and members of the School Council about programs and opportunities to get involved.”

Lively District Secondary School offers the Innovative Integrated Technology (InIT) program. Busing for the InIT program is provided to students living within Greater Sudbury.

InIT combines a variety of core subjects with innovative technology classes and hands-on learning. In partnership with the business and industry sectors, students enrolled in this specialized program participate in relevant and meaningful activities such as job shadowing and field trips, and have an opportunity to earn industry recognized certifications that prepare them to become competitive in a global market. The InIT program encourages problem solving through the design process, the integration of digital technology, and the use of industry standard software and hardware.

Lively District Secondary School also offers four Specialist High Skills Majors (SHSMs): Environment – Sustainable Agriculture; Information and Communications Technology – Software and Digital Media; Mining – Technology; and Sports – Sports Industry. These Ministry of Education approved programs allow students to focus their learning on specific sectors while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. SHSMs help students transition from secondary school to apprenticeship training, college, university or the workplace.

In addition, students can enrol in Co-operative Education, the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) and Dual Credits through Cambrian College.
