What’s happening in Rainbow Schools?
Rainbow District School Board welcomes 14,938 students
According to official predicted enrolment for the start of the 2009-2010 school year, Rainbow District School Board will welcome 14,938 students in Rainbow Schools when classes resume on Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 – one week before Labour Day.
Parents/guardians are reminded that the first day of school will end 30 minutes earlier.
In the elementary panel, enrolment will total 8,811 students including 6,583 in the English Program and 2,228 in the French Immersion Program.
In the secondary panel, enrolment is expected to reach 6,127 students including 5,420 in the English Program and 707 in the French Immersion Program.
Enrolment is calculated as full-time equivalents.
This fall, 718 children are expected to enter Junior Kindergarten in Rainbow Schools.
A total of 783 children have enrolled in Senior Kindergarten.
A total of 1,208 students have registered for Grade 9 classes in area Rainbow Schools.
Official enrolment data will be available at the end of October.
Rainbow District School Board is the largest school board in Northern Ontario with 38 elementary schools and 10 secondary schools in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin.
The first day of school will be on Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 for all area school boards, including Rainbow District School Board, the Sudbury Catholic District School Board, le Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario and le Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario.
