Rainbow Schools welcome new Principals this September

Some of the Rainbow District School Board’s elementary schools will welcome new Principals when classes resume on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.

Kim Boulanger
Principal
Churchill Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 8 – English)
Kim Boulanger joined the Board in 1998, teaching primary and junior grades. She was also a literacy resource teacher. Kim Boulanger served as Principal of Monetville Public School and, most recently, Cyril Varney Public School. She was also Vice-Principal at Lansdowne Public School, Algonquin Road Public School and Long Lake Public School. Principal Boulanger co-chairs the Sudbury Regional Heritage Fair. She looks forward to working with the students, parents/guardians and staff of Churchill Public School.

Brenda Carr
Principal
Alexander Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 8 – French Immersion)
Brenda Carr taught in Southern Ontario before joining Rainbow Schools in 2006. Her teaching experience extends across all grades in the elementary panel, including Core French and French Immersion. Brenda Carr was promoted Vice-Principal in 2015, serving at Northeastern Elementary School, Walden Public School, Ernie Checkeris Public School and Carl A. Nesbitt Public School. Principal Carr looks forward to working with the students, parents/guardians and staff at Alexander Public School in her new role as Principal.

Ron Hodkinson
Principal
Northeastern Elementary School
(Kindergarten to Grade 8, English and French Immersion)
Ron Hodkinson returns to Rainbow Schools following two years as Principal at the Ontario International Canadian School in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. His career with the Board began at Pinecrest Public School, then Wanup Public School where he taught intermediate grades. He was promoted to Vice-Principal of Little Current Public School in 2006 and, two years later, was appointed Principal of Cyril Varney Public School. Principal Hodkinson looks forward to joining the staff and students at Northeastern Elementary School.

Kendra Mihell
Principal
Cyril Varney Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 6 – English)
Kendra Mihell became an administrator with Rainbow District School Board in 2008 at S. Geiger Public School. She also served as Principal of Webbwood Public School and, most recently, Copper Cliff Public School. Prior to joining the Board, Kendra Mihell taught with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board where she also served as an administrator. Principal Mihell looks forward to her new appointment, supporting students, staff and families at Cyril Varney Public School in New Sudbury.

James Norrie
Principal
Copper Cliff Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 8 – English)
James Norrie joined the Board in 2000, teaching primarily in junior and intermediate grades. He was promoted to a leadership role in 2006, serving as Vice-Principal of Wembley Public School, Northeastern Elementary School and MacLeod Public School. In 2013, he was appointed Principal of Jean Hanson Public School. He served the past year as Principal of Churchill Public School. Principal Norrie looks forward to working with the students, parents/guardians and staff of Copper Cliff Public School.

Dave St. Amour
Principal
A.B. Ellis Public School (Kindergarten to Grade 8 – English)
Dave St. Amour began his career with the Board as a teacher at Lockerby Composite School. He then transferred to Sudbury Secondary School, where he was later promoted to Vice-Principal. He also served as Vice-Principal of Lasalle Secondary School and, most recently, Confederation Secondary School. Dave St. Amour brings extensive experience in the secondary panel to his new role as Principal of A.B. Ellis Public School in Espanola. He looks forward to working with students, staff, parents/guardians and the community.
