"Where Character Counts"
One of the oldest, continuously operating schools in the Sudbury region, Long Lake Public School has been providing quality education to children for more than 50 years!
Situated among mature stands of birch and evergreen, Long Lake Public School is located in the City of Greater Sudbury’s South End, approximately ten minutes from downtown.
With a current enrolment of 61, full-time, regular-program students from Junior Kindergarten through to Grade 6, Long Lake Public School offers a Before and After School Y.M.C.A. Daycare Program for busy parents as well as a full day everyday Junior and Senior Kindergarten program.
At Long Lake Public School, we believe that every child is capable of reaching his or her potential in a learning environment that is both caring and challenging. Our staff is dedicated to providing an atmosphere in which all students strive to do their best each and every day. In practice, this means encouraging and helping our students to meet, and even exceed, provincial targets in language and mathematics at all grade levels.
Good health and fitness are additional components of the Long Lake experience. When they are not participating in our daily “health hustle” and gym-related activities, our students are enjoying safe and healthy outdoor play on one of the finest school grounds in the area.
Thanks to the fund-raising efforts of parents and supporters, students at Long Lake Public School have access to a basketball court, a soccer/football field, a spacious sandbox, a gazebo, picnic tables, and, most recently, a modern play structure. Long Lake students are also able to use the beautiful wooded areas that surround the school for nature walks, cross-country running, and cross-country skiing events.
Parents have always been important partners-in-education at Long Lake Public School. Their work within the school, and their support of classroom projects and excursions, is encouraged and appreciated. In concert with staff, Long Lake’s School Council is committed to making Long Lake Public School a beacon for learning in the community.
