Rainbow District School Board with schools in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island invites applications for Contract Indigenous Support Workers to provide support to students in our Sudbury area schools.

The successful candidates must have experience working with and providing support to students who identify as Indigenous.  As well, candidates must have an understanding of working with people who identify as indigenous and indigenous communities and culture.  Experience with elementary or secondary schools and working with social service agencies.  Candidates should have a post-secondary diploma in Social Services or related field and must have excellent interpersonal, communication and computer skills.

SOCIAL WORKER (1 Year Contract)

Rainbow District School Board with schools in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island requires a contract Social Worker to work supporting our schools in Sudbury.  Under the supervision of the Mental Health Lead, the successful candidate will provide social work services, build knowledge of mental health, promoting mentally healthy habits and skills.  The social worker will perform clinical assessment and intervention with individual students.  From an attachment informed perspective this includes supporting intervention with families.  Consultation and collaboration with school personnel and community agencies will enhance the academic success and social-emotional wellbeing of each student.

The successful candidates must have a Masters of Social Work, be registered with the College of Social Workers of Ontario and have extensive training and experience working in the area of youth mental health, trauma work and family based treatment.  Candidates should have knowledge of relevant legislation and excellent communication and report writing skills.  Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team is required.  As this position requires travel between sites, a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle are mandatory.

PLUMBER

The Plumber will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for maintenance and repair of water and heating systems within Rainbow District School Board.  Regular travel to sites in the Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island areas will be required.

The successful candidate will have a Grade 12 diploma and a Province of Ontario Trade Certificate (or equivalent provincial) in Plumbing with a minimum of 5 years experience including experience working on heating systems; past experience working within a commercial setting would be an asset.

This position requires an individual who can work independently and has strong written and oral communication skills. As this position requires travel between sites, a valid driver’s license is mandatory.

The salary rate is $35.58 per hour. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 7 am to 3:30 pm. There is the possibility of overtime and callouts.

GAS TECHNICIAN/BURNER MECHANIC

The Gas Technician/Burner mechanic will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for maintenance and installations within Rainbow District School Board.  Regular travel to sites in the Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island areas will be required.

The successful candidate will have a Grade 12 diploma and Gas Technician 1 certificate.  An Oil Burner Technician certificate would be an asset. A minimum of 4 years experience as a certified technician in commercial and institutional work is preferred.  The individual will require a thorough knowledge of all applicable codes and have the ability to troubleshoot and repair heating, combustion, distribution and control systems.  Preference will be given to individuals with additional experience in building control systems, pneumatics and air conditioning.

This position requires an individual who can work independently and has strong written and oral communication skills. As this position requires travel between sites, a valid driver’s license is mandatory.
