The schedule for Elementary Summer Learning Programs:  Tuesday July 2, 2024 to Friday July 19, 2024. 

Hours Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 2:30 PM

SUMMER STUDENT MENTORS

Duties include:  Supporting literacy and numeracy programming in small groups, leading and supporting recreation activities during the recreation portion of the day.  Program sites include:  Princess Anne PS, Chelmsford VDCS, Adamsdale PS and Little Current PS.  The number of Student Mentors hired will be dependent on confirmation of student enrolment.  Knowledge and experience with Google Classroom and Google Meet is an asset.

COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT

Rainbow District School Board is offering an exciting summer employment opportunity for a young person in the field of public relations, marketing, journalism and/or communications.  The Communications Assistant will create content for website and social media platforms, including text, graphics, photography and video.  The Communications Assistant will also provide support for public relations and contribute to the development of publications and information campaigns.  The ideal candidate will have skills in writing, photography, video and website content management gained through current or recent college and/or university studies.  This opportunity will provide hands-on experience in a dynamic work environment with team mentoring.

The successful candidate must be between the ages of 15 and 24.  Funding for the position has been provided by the Ontario Public Service through the Summer Employment Opportunity.

PLUMBER

The Plumber will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for maintenance and repair of water and heating systems within Rainbow District School Board.  Regular travel to sites in the Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island areas will be required.

The successful candidate will have a Grade 12 diploma and a Province of Ontario Trade Certificate (or equivalent provincial) in Plumbing with a minimum of 5 years experience including experience working on heating systems; past experience working within a commercial setting would be an asset.

This position requires an individual who can work independently and has strong written and oral communication skills. As this position requires travel between sites, a valid driver’s license is mandatory.

The salary rate is $33.25 per hour. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 7 am to 3:30 pm. There is the possibility of overtime and callouts.

GAS TECHNICIAN/BURNER MECHANIC

The Gas Technician/Burner mechanic will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for maintenance and installations within Rainbow District School Board.  Regular travel to sites in the Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island areas will be required.

The successful candidate will have a Grade 12 diploma and Gas Technician 1 certificate.  An Oil Burner Technician certificate would be an asset.  A minimum of 4 years experience as a certified technician in commercial and institutional work is preferred.  The individual will require a thorough knowledge of all applicable codes and have the ability to troubleshoot and repair heating, combustion, distribution and control systems.  Preference will be given to individuals with additional experience in building control systems, pneumatics and air conditioning.

This position requires an individual who can work independently and has strong written and oral communication skills. As this position requires travel between sites, a valid driver’s license is mandatory.

The salary rate is $33.25 per hour. (September 1, 2023) Hours of work are Monday to Friday 7 am to 3:30 pm. There is the possibility of overtime and callouts.
