High School Athletes of the Week

ALANNAH MACLEAN
Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School

Grade: 11 - Sports: Cross Country Running, Nordic Skiing, Track & Field

Alannah is an outstanding selection for SDSSA Athlete of the Week. As a student and an athlete Alannah has represented Lo-Ellen Park extremely well over her first 3 years of secondary school. Each year she has been an honour student while also participating in a full slate of athletics. She has excelled in Cross - Country Running, Track and Field and Nordic Skiing. She has medaled in all 3 disciplines every year she has participated culminating in her OFSAA performance in Nordic Skiing this year.

As a Grade 11 student Alannah won the Senior Girls Nordic Skiing championship in Midland last week. She also helped her team place 5th in the Sprint Relays. This is an incredible accomplishment as most athletes are in their 4th or even 5th year when they win this championship. Alannah should be someone we look to see at the national level in years to come.

MATTHIEU DEPATIE
Collège Notre-Dame

Grade: 11 - Sports: Basketball, Volleyball, Trtack & Field

Matthieu Dépatie is a grade 11 student and plays the post position for the senior boys basketball team at Collège Notre-Dame. His dedication and hard work have contributed to the team’s regular season record of twelve victories and two defeats, placing them in first place going into the playoffs.

As well, Matthieu’s agressive rebounding and sharp shooting had a positive impact on the team’s challenge toward the city championship. Although he is only in grade 11, Matthieu is making a reputation for himself as a big man on the court.

Matthieu is a well rounded athlete who also excels in volleyball and track.

Following his high school, Matthieu would like to pursue his studies at the University level.
