Pinecrest evacuated as repairs are completed to underground power line
Pinecrest Public School was safely evacuated today (Tuesday, October 30, 2012) at approximately 10:45 am.
An underground power line is being repaired on school property at 1650 Dominion Drive in Hanmer.
Students have been bused to Confederation Secondary School where they will remain for the balance of the day.
Students will be transported home at their regular dismissal time.
Students who walk to school were sent home early if school officials were able to contact parents.
Work on the power line will continue until the end of the week.
In the meantime, classes for Pinecrest Public School will take place at Confederation Secondary School on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 and Thursday, November 1, 2012.
Students who walk to school will be picked up at Pinecrest at 8:45 am, then transported to Confederation Secondary School.
At the end of the school day, walkers will be picked up at Confederation at 3:05 pm and returned to Pinecrest Public School by 3:20 pm.
Pinecrest students who are bused to school will receive transportation to Confederation Secondary School from their regular bus stops.
Pinecrest Public School is scheduled to re-open on Friday, November 2nd, 2012.
There are just over 200 students at the school.
