April 27: Lasalle Secondary School hosts workshop for students with special needs

Lasalle Secondary School will host Destination Readiness on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 10 am to 1 pm to help students with special needs prepare for the future.

This free workshop is open to all students in Rainbow Schools with needs and exceptionalities as well as parents/guardians, caregivers, program leaders and teachers.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to Lasalle Secondary School for Destination Readiness,” said Principal Kristina Rivard Gobbo. “A variety of service agencies will be on site to share information about supports available to students during and after high school.”

Participants will have an opportunity to tour displays throughout the school gym and cafeteria to learn more from agency representatives about vocational and job supports, post-secondary learning opportunities, community and independent living as well as financial support and management.

Participating agencies include: Adult Enrichment Centre; Adult Health and Wellness Centre; Cambrian College – Glenn Crombie Centre; Canadian Hard of Hearing Association; Children’s Community Network and Respite Services; Christian Horizons; Community Living – Greater Sudbury; Compass – Sudbury Youth Wellness Hub; Developmental Services of Ontario; Focus on Abilities Adult Day Program; Future North; Georgian College – Community Integration Through Cooperative Education Program; Home and Community Care Support Services; Independence Centre and Network; Independent Living Sudbury Manitoulin; IG Wealth Management Registered Disability Savings Plan; Laurentian University – Accessibility Services; Learning Disabilities Association of Sudbury; March of Dimes; Northern Ontario Assessment and Resource Centre; Northern Outreach and Clinical Services; Ontario Disability Support Program; Sault College, Community Integration Through Cooperative Education Program; Special Olympics Ontario; Sudbury Community Service Centre; and YMCA Employment Services.
