October 17: Parents invited to learn about relationships, belonging and connection
Parents/guardians are invited to learn about relationships, belonging and connection on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 7 pm with renowned expert Dr. Jean Clinton.
The live presentation will be held in person at Sudbury Secondary School’s Sheridan Auditorium. Parents/guardians in Espanola and Manitoulin are invited to gather at Espanola High School and Manitoulin Secondary School to participate.
“Helping our Students Thrive Through Challenging Times” will highlight ways to create optimal learning conditions for all students.
“We invite parents/guardians to enjoy this not-to-be missed speaker,” says Director of Education Bruce Bourget. “This topic will also be of interest to administrators, teachers and support staff. Everyone is welcome to join us for this free presentation.”
Dr. Jean Clinton of McMaster University is one of four renowned experts to advise the Wynne Government on bold reforms to the province’s publicly funded education system.
The clinical professor of psychiatry and behavioural neurosciences of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, Dr. Clinton is a specialist in child psychiatry. Her expertise is in the development of young minds and she is recognized internationally as an advocate for children’s issues. Her special interest lies in brain development and the crucial role relationships and connectedness play therein.
Dr. Clinton has spoken to many groups, advocating the importance of relationships, early child development and brain development, parenting and asset building. Dr. Clinton champions the development of a national comprehensive child well-being strategy including a system of early learning and child care for all young children and their families – which she believes plays a vital role in prompting healthy human development.
The presentation will follow the Annual General Meeting of Rainbow District School Board’s Parent Involvement Committee which will begin at 6 pm.
