Rainbow Schools offer opportunities to earn new credits this summer
Rainbow District School Board will offer opportunities for students to earn new credits towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma this summer, including Summer School Co-operative Education as well as e-Learning for students in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island.
Summer School Co-operative Education
Summer Co-op students can obtain one, two or three new Co-operative Education credit(s).
Co-op credits will be available in July and August for students who already have a paid or unpaid work placement where a workplace agreement has been arranged.
Students wishing to obtain one or two credits must register for the session that runs from Thursday, July 2, 2026 to Friday, July 31, 2026.
Students wishing to obtain an additional credit from Saturday, August 1, 2026 to Friday, August 21, 2026 must also be registered for the July session.
Students must attain 110 hours in their placement per credit to be successful.
Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to their placements.
Summer e-Learning Program
Secondary students can obtain one new credit through summer eLearning.
Students will require a reliable computer with Internet access to enroll in the Summer eLearning Program.
eLearning is taught entirely through the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) in D2L’s Brightspace.
eLearning is asynchronous, which means students have the flexibility to login and complete work at any time of the day. Students should expect to spend approximately five hours per day working on their course.
There is no guarantee that students will be able to access the VLE outside of Canada.
Courses are offered by different school boards, and will have varying start and end dates depending on the host board. Rainbow courses will run from Thursday, July 2, 2026 to Friday, July 31, 2026.
Students are required to register with their home school Guidance Counsellor by Friday, June 19, 2026. For a full list of course offerings, students should contact their Guidance Counsellor.
Courses will run subject to sufficient enrolment and teacher availability.
