The spirit of giving was on full display at R.L. Beattie Public School this Thanksgiving as students and staff joined together to bring warmth and comfort to those in need.

Through a school-wide initiative led by the Kindness Club, classes were challenged to donate items for 50 “Thankful for Comfort” bundles in support of the Elgin Street Mission. Each package contained essentials such as toques, gloves, scarves, socks, hand warmers and toiletries. Additional items were also donated in bulk.

“Giving back helps students understand the importance of contributing to their community,” said R.L. Beattie Public School Principal Stephen Winckel. “Initiatives like this teach students the value of compassion, generosity and responsibility as caring citizens.”

He added: “I’m grateful to our students, families and staff for their enthusiasm and commitment to helping others, and I am very proud of the meaningful difference they have made through this thoughtful act of kindness.”
