Lockerby students canvass community for cancer on Thursday evening

Students from Lockerby Composite School will canvass the streets of Sudbury on Thursday, October 29, 2026 from 5 pm to 9 pm for the Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive.

When you receive a knock on your door, please donate generously to support young patients and families affected by cancer in our region.

“On behalf of Lockerby Composite School, I extend a sincere thank you to all those who have contributed to the success of this initiative throughout the years,” said Principal Ryan Lafraniere.

He added: “We are extremely grateful to the residents of Sudbury who continue to support Lockerby Composite School’s Cancer Drive. We also appreciate the local businesses and organizations that provide donations.”

Lockerby Composite School’s Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive is an annual student-led fundraising campaign in support of the HSN Foundation for pediatric oncology care at Health Sciences North.

Since its inception in 1995, the Cancer Drive has raised $1.1 million to improve cancer care for children and youth in Northern Ontario.

Now in its 31st year, the Cancer Drive has been a powerful example of generosity, compassion and community spirit in memory of Laura Cotesta whose connection to the Cancer Drive and passion for supporting children facing cancer remain an important part of its legacy.

The Cancer Drive’s continued success is a direct reflection of the incredible support from local businesses, organizations and community members who come together year after year to stand behind Lockerby Composite School and its mission of Kids Caring for Kids.
