Thank you Sudbury: Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive raises $51,600
Students and staff at Lockerby Composite School raised $51,600 in this year’s Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive in memory of Laura Cotesta.
The annual student-led fundraising campaign supports the HSN Foundation for pediatric oncology care at Health Sciences North.
“On behalf of Lockerby Composite School, I extend a sincere thank you to all residents, businesses and organizations who contributed to the success of this year’s initiative,” said Principal Ryan Lafraniere. “When students and staff canvassed the community on October 29th, they were greeted with a warm welcome and an enthusiastic response. We are truly grateful.”
“What an incredible year for Lockerby’s Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive! Year after year, these students show up with the same passion, dedication, and determination to make a difference for pediatric oncology patients at Health Sciences North,” said Chelsea Parent, Community Engagement Specialist, HSN Foundation. “It’s truly inspiring to see young people come together with such generosity and compassion, knowing their efforts are helping children and families in our community receive the care they need, close to home.”
She added: “We are so proud of the entire Lockerby team and our generous community and we are incredibly grateful for their continued commitment to making a meaningful impact. They are a shining example of what it means to be kids caring for kids.”
Since its inception in 1995, the Cancer Drive has raised more than $1.1 million to improve cancer care for children and youth in Northern Ontario.
