April 18: Lasalle Secondary School hosts special needs information session
Lasalle Secondary School will host an information evening for parents and teachers of students with special needs on Wednesday, April 18, 2012.
“Destination Readiness”, which will take place from 7 pm to 9 pm at the school, will be of particular interest to parents and teachers of students in Intensive Support Program (ISP) classes working on alternative curriculum.
The goal of the evening is to provide information about services that students with special needs can access while in high school, and, more importantly, after leaving high school.
The evening will begin with a presentation by Developmental Services Ontario. Individuals with special needs who are 18 years of age or older must now register with Developmental Services Ontario to access services. The presentation will take place in the Lecture Theatre.
The evening will also feature displays from a variety of community agencies in the Sudbury area. Parents and teachers will be able to visit the displays and ask questions.
Some of the agencies that will be represented include Northern Vocation, Independent Living, Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), YMCA Employment Services, ICAN
and L’arche Sudbury.
Lasalle Secondary School is located at 1545 Kennedy Street in Sudbury.
The “Destination Readiness” information session is open to all parents and teachers.
