Lasalle Secondary School will host “Destination Readiness”, an information session for parents/guardians and teachers of students with special needs, on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.
Kelly O’Brien of Developmental Services Ontario will deliver a presentation on how to access services when students with special needs turn 18. The presentation will take place in the lecture theatre.
Local agencies will be in the library providing resources and answering questions. Agencies include Northern Vocational Services, Independent Living Sudbury, Ontario Disabilities Support Program, YMCA Employment Services, ICAN, L’Arche Sudbury, March of Dimes, Jarrett Centre, CWC Woods, the Down Syndrome Association of Sudbury, Respite Services, Special Olympics, Sudbury Community Centre and more.
“We are pleased to host Destination Readiness,” says Jeff McKibbon, Principal of Lasalle Secondary School “The goal is to create a link between agencies and students that need their services. This will assist them while in school, and more importantly, when they leave school.”
This evening will be of particular interest to parents/guardians whose children are 14 and over in order to prepare a pathway for their future.
Lasalle Secondary School is located at 1545 Kennedy Street in Sudbury.
