2020-2021 Annual Report for Rainbow Schools now available online

Rainbow District School Board’s Annual Report for the 2020-2021 school year is now available online at www.rainbowschools.ca.

School Boards are required to produce an Annual Report in accordance with The Education Act. The Annual Report provides an overview of key activities undertaken by Rainbow District School Board to address its strategic priorities during the 2020-2021 school year. It also offers an overview of the current Board budget.

“As teaching and learning resumed amidst the backdrop of the global pandemic, we remained focused on our priorities, with health and safety first and foremost,” said Board Chair Doreen Dewar. “There was additional support for mental health in order to develop resiliency skills, manage stress, and nurture positive relationships.”

She added: “Whether students were learning in person or remotely, staff worked diligently to support well-being and achievement to enable students to reach their full potential. Building a strong circle of care became more important than ever as students were required to adapt to continual change while meeting the expectations of the curriculum.”

“The stories in this Annual Report provide a snapshot of a school year unlike any other,” said Director of Education Bruce Bourget. “Our educators and support staff demonstrated tremendous resilience as did our students and families who were called upon to adjust to changes throughout the school year.”

He added: “In this Annual Report, we have captured a broad range of voices – from students, to teachers, to administrators, to support staff, to educational partners, to trustees – who share their experience of education during the pandemic. Through these voices, we learn the value of hope.”
