Accommodation Review Committee for Wembley releases draft report

The Rainbow District School Board Accommodation Review Committee (ARC) for Wembley Public School released its draft report today. The report, which follows a series of public meetings on the future accommodation of students, is available online at rainbowschools.ca.

The Accommodation Review Committee’s preferred option is that an addition be built to Princess Anne Public School to accommodate all Princess Anne and Wembley students on one site. The Committee is made up of parents/guardians from School Council, the school principal, a teacher, the area superintendent, a municipal representative and a business representative.

The public can submit written input to the Accommodation Review Committee until Friday, August 15, 2008.

The mandate of the Accommodation Review Committee is to develop options for student accommodation which will maximize student learning within the resources available to the Board in keeping with one guiding principle – to ensure that all students continue to have access to the best programming possible in quality school facilities.

The Accommodation Review Committee will submit its final report to the Board’s Administrative Council by Monday, August 25, 2008. The report will include the mandate, the data, the process, public input and recommendations. The final report will be posted on the Board’s website within the week.

Administrative Council will present the Accommodation Review Committee’s recommendations and the Administrative Council recommendations to the Board at its regular meeting on Monday, September 22, 2008.

The Board will hear public presentations at its regular meeting on Monday, October 20, 2008. Public presentations must be made in accordance with Board by-laws, which are available at rainbowschools.ca.

A final decision regarding the accommodation of students at Wembley Public School will be made at the Board meeting on Monday, November 17, 2008.
