Alexander Public School: Counting pennies for Pediatrics

Kindergarten students at Alexander Public School have been counting pennies for the Health Sciences North Pennies For Pediatrics campaign. They raised $323.86. Dr. Tara Baron, pediatrician at Health Sciences North, recently visited the school to accept the donation. “The Kindergarten students at Alexander enjoyed the opportunity to raise funds for other children while practicing their counting,” says Principal Jacques Mantha. Pennies For Pediatrics is a fundraising campaign of the HSN Volunteer Association, in cooperation with HSN Volunteer Services. The goal of the campaign is to raise $100,000 for children’s services at Health Sciences North/Horizon Santé-Nord. Proceeds from the campaign will be used to convert HSN’s existing therapy pool into a Snoezelen Pool, which uses special sound and lighting for the treatment of children with development conditions, such as autism.
