April 22: Gatchell hosts Make-and-Take for parents of exceptional students
Gatchell School Council will host a “Make-and-Take” workshop for parents of exceptional students on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Gatchell School.
The workshop, being presented by Special Education Teacher Anne Randa, will take place from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Free childcare will be provided. There will also be a free pizza dinner from 5:30 pm to 6 pm.
“This is the second in a series of evening workshops for parents of exceptional students being hosted by the School Council,” says Gatchell School Principal Iva McNair. The workshops are being funded by a Parents Reaching Out grant provided by the Ministry of Education’s Parent Engagement Office.
“Our teachers will present a variety of activities which are designed to help children to develop basic language and communication skills,” she says. “Parents will be able to select from these activities in order to produce resources which can be used at home to support their children.”
Parents/guardians interested in attending the workshop are asked to RSVP by Tuesday, April 21st, 2009 to Iva McNair, Principal, Gatchell School, phone 674-1221 or email [email protected]. When registering, please indicate if you will be requiring transportation.
Other topics in the series for parents include an agency fair later this spring as well as a barbecue and Open House in September.
Gatchell School is located at 31 Tuddenham Avenue in Sudbury. From downtown Sudbury, travel west on Lorne Street, turn right on Tuddenham Avenue and turn left at the stop sign at the top of the hill.
