Assiginack Public School welcomes new Principal

Rainbow District School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of
Maria Bouwmeester as Principal of Assiginack Public School. She served
as Vice-Principal of Little Current Public School for the past year and a
half. 

Maria Bouwmeester began her teaching career in Toronto prior to moving back to her hometown area in 1989.  Along with teaching most grades in the elementary panel, she has been a resource teacher, librarian, Intensive Support Program teacher and literacy resource teacher. 

While most of her career has been in the classroom, she also served as an officer at the local Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) for two years. 

Principal Bouwmeester looks forward to working with the students, parents/guardians, staff and community of Assiginack Public School to promote ongoing excellence in academics through building caring, respectful citizens.

Assiginack Public School offers Early Learning – Kindergarten to Grade 8 in Manitowaning on Manitoulin Island.
