What’s happening in Rainbow Schools?
Before and after school programs to be offered at Early Learning sites
Rainbow District School Board will offer before and after school programs for four and five year olds as part of the new Early Learning Program being introduced at six Rainbow Schools this fall – Churchill Public School, Lansdowne Public School, Princess Anne Public School, Queen Elizabeth Public School, Wembley Public School and A.B. Ellis Public School in Espanola. The programs will be offered for a fee, providing there is sufficient enrolment.
“At this time, we are attempting to gauge interest from parents and guardians so we can plan now for school start up,” said Rainbow District School Board Director of Education Jean Hanson. “Parents who have registered their children in the Early Learning Program at these six schools will receive a phone call and letter this week about the before and after school opportunities.”
Before school programs will begin at 7 am. After school programs will run until 6 pm. These programs will be offered at the Early Learning schools, giving children a seamless school day.
Parents are being encouraged to provide their feedback by Friday, June 25th. “While we will continue to receive registrations for the before and after school programs over the summer months, having this information as soon as possible will enable us to plan ahead to ensure the best start up for children,” said Director Hanson. “So we certainly encourage parents to indicate their interest in the before and after school programs as soon as they can.”
Schools will be open to accept registrations until Friday, July 9, 2010. After this date, parents can register their children for before and after school programs at the Rainbow District School Board Office at Centre for Education, 408 Wembley Drive in Sudbury, from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday. Please note: The Board Office will be closed from Monday, July 19, 2010 to and including Monday, August 2, 2010. Schools will reopen for registrations on Monday, August 23, 2010.
