Board and elementary teachers reach tentative agreement

Rainbow District School Board and the Federation representing its 600 elementary school teachers in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin have reached a tentative agreement.

“This four-year settlement, if approved, will foster ongoing peace and stability in Rainbow Schools, good news for students and parents in the communities that we serve,” said Board Negotiating Committee Chair Dena Morrison.

She added: “Rainbow District School Board values the contribution of its elementary teachers and thanks ETFO for working together to achieve a new deal.”

Details will be released once the agreement has been ratified by members of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) Rainbow Teacher Local and approved by the Board of Trustees.

Rainbow District School Board trustees have scheduled a special meeting to review the agreement on Monday, April 27th, 2009.

The new deal, if approved, will be in effect until August 31st, 2012.
