Board approves school year calendar for 2008-2009

At their regular meeting on Monday, March 17, 2008, Rainbow District School Board trustees approved the school year calendar for 2008-2009.

"The calendar will be of interest to parents/guardians who want to plan ahead for the next school year," said Board Chair Judy Hunda. "It includes the dates for the Christmas Break, the March Break, statutory holidays, secondary school examination days and professional activity days in 2008-2009."

Of special note in the 2008-2009 school year calendar is the first day of school for students. It will be on Wednesday, September 3, 2008. The day after Labour Day (Tuesday, September 2, 2008) will be a professional learning day for teachers.

The first instructional day of the year (September 3, 2008) will end 30 minutes earlier than normal.
The last instructional day of the year (June 26, 2009) will end 30 minutes earlier than normal.
