Board Office staff donate $1,000 to Sudbury Food Bank

Rainbow District School Board employees made an impressive contribution to the Sudbury Food Bank today.

Board Office staff presented $1,000 to Chair Geoffrey Lougheed and Administrator Dan Xilon to provide food for needy families in the community.

“Each week, a member of the staff goes around the Board Office gathering donations. Employees dig deep into their pockets to support a good cause,” said Director of Education Jean Hanson.

“Today, as we head into the Easter weekend, we were gratified to be able to invite representatives of the Food Bank to join us for this special presentation. Employees welcomed the opportunity to share their generosity of spirit.”

She added: “As director of an organization dedicated to nurturing children to reach their full potential, it warms my heart to see our employees – week after week – give generously to make our community a better place to live. I commend Board Office staff for their individual and collective acts of kindness.”

The Sudbury Food Bank represents over 40 local agencies that provide over 10,000 Sudburians with food every month.

Board Office staff work behind the scenes supporting Rainbow Schools in finance, human resources, information technology, plant and administrative services.

Last year, they donated close to $1,000 to Free the Children to help build a school in Kenya.
