Board participates in inaugural Courage to Stand Day

The Greater Sudbury Police Service Chief’s Youth Advisory Council (CYAC) / Conseil consultatif de la
jeunesse relevant du chef du Service de police du Grand Sudbury is
officially proclaiming April 20th 2012 “Courage to Stand” day. The
goal of the proclamation is to set aside one day of the year to remind people
of the importance of treating one another with respect and dignity and to stand
up for their beliefs.

The first annual “Courage
to Stand” day was hosted by the CYAC at Tom Davies Square on April 20. Councillor Jacques Barbeau read the
proclamation in the presence of youth representing secondary schools from the
Sudbury area.

Other attending dignitaries included Greater Sudbury Police
Chief Frank Elsner, Marc Gauthier, Superintendent, Conseil Scolaire Public du
Grand Nord de l’Ontario, Lesleigh Dye, Superintendent, Rainbow District School
Board, Nicole Sonier, Executive Director, Conseil Scolaire Catholique du
Nouvel-Ontario, and Diana Salvador, Principal and member of the Sudbury
District Catholic School Board Safe and Equitable Schools Committee.
