Board ratifies tentative agreements with elementary teachers
At a special Board meeting held on Monday, April 27th, 2009, Rainbow District School Board approved two tentative agreements reached with the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) Rainbow Teacher Local last week.
The agreements cover 600 elementary teachers and 400 elementary occasional teachers in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin.
Details will be released once the agreements have been ratified by ETFO.
The ratification vote for the elementary teachers is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 6, 2009.
Occasional teachers will vote on their new contract on Friday, May 8, 2009.
The new deals, if approved, will be in effect until August 31st, 2012.
“These four-year settlements, if approved, will foster ongoing peace and stability in Rainbow Schools, good news for students and parents in the communities that we serve,” said Board Negotiating Committee Chair Dena Morrison.
She added: “Rainbow District School Board values the contribution of its regular and occasional elementary teachers and thanks ETFO for working together to achieve these new agreements.”
