Community Partners spread kindness with Turkeys for Families

Trucks filled with turkeys will be making their way to Rainbow Schools on Friday, December 13, 2024 thanks to the kindness of Matt’s Plumbing and community partners in Sudbury. The turkeys are being distributed to families for the holidays.

The Turkeys for Families initiative was launched by Matt Stillwaugh and has steadily grown since its inception in 2019.

“We know that some families feel the stress of the season more than others,” he said. “And we know the need continues to grow. Once again, we reached out to our partners for support. The response was so positive, 400 turkeys will be distributed to 400 families.”

Turkeys will be picked up at 9 am at Delki Dozzi Park in Sudbury. “I will be hauling a silver trailer filled with turkeys going to various schools,” said Jacques Barbeau, Sales and Business Development for Matt’s Plumbing. “Friday is turkey day and I look forward to meeting everyone who will be helping with the distribution.”

The turkeys will be shared with 17 Rainbow Schools. Rainbow District School Board Facilities staff will be among the various drivers making the deliveries. Once the turkeys have been picked up, Jacques Barbeau will travel to the schools in the Lively area.

Rainbow District School Board expresses its gratitude to Matt’s Plumbing and community partners Emco, The Plumbing Warehouse, R and M Builders and Renovators, Ted Pearson Automotive, Echo Rental, Beni’s Restaurant, Di Gusto Restaurant, MIC Restaurant, Pinehill Lumber, Walden Home Hardware, Smith Realty and Northland Trailers.

“We are grateful to Matt Stillwaugh for his continued leadership of the Turkeys for Families initiative and for expanding the impact with the support of the local business community,” said Bruce Bourget, Director of Education for Rainbow District School Board. “We thank Matt’s Plumbing and community partners for making the festive season brighter for families in Rainbow Schools. Their generosity is greatly appreciated.”

Lively District Secondary School Principal, Susan Kett, co-ordinated the distribution of the turkeys in Rainbow Schools. “Our school administrators are thrilled to receive the turkeys to share with some of their families,” said Principal Kett.

She added: “Turkeys bring families together. They represent one of the true meanings of the festive season. On behalf of the administrators of Rainbow Schools, we extend our deepest gratitude to Matt’s Plumbing and community partners. Thank you for your kindness.”
