Confederation raises funds to enhance care for students affected by poverty
Students at Confederation Secondary School are taking a stand against poverty. They raised $3,700 to help their most vulnerable students.
In addition to monetary donations, the school received clothing such as winter wear, and a generous donation of two washers and dryers to allow students to do their laundry while at school.
“Confederation Secondary School cares,” says Principal Pablo Gil-Alfau. “In addition to funds raised by students, our school received $6,000 in donations to add an all-day snack program to complement our existing breakfast club.”
For their efforts, Nickel Belt MP Marc Serré acknowledged the staff and students of Confederation Secondary School in the House of Commons on October 24th, 2016.
To further support students and their success, the school developed an optional electronic survey to gather information about student needs. The survey results will help the school determine how to deliver services to students on an individual basis.
