Confederation Secondary School’s OSAID Chapter promotes seatbelt safety
Confederation Secondary School’s Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving (OSAID) Chapter is promoting safe driving practices by reminding students to buckle up.
Confederation Secondary School student Tamika Carlson, OSAID Regional Representative for Sudbury, Espanola, Manitoulin Island and Timmins, said September 24 to October 5 marks the 30th anniversary of Ontario’s seatbelt law.
“Since this law was passed, many lives have been saved. Yet people still continue to go without buckling up, which is one of the easiest ways to lower chances of death or injury upon collision,” she said. “To commemorate this wonderful law, just do up your seatbelt!”
OSAID students are promoting seatbelt safety with announcements on seatbelt facts and school-wide student pledges to always wear a seatbelt. “Confederation’s OSAID group wants people to know that it is important not only to drive sober, but to drive safely,” said OSAID teacher representative Ashleigh McBain. “Wearing your seatbelt is the easiest way to be safe in a motor vehicle.”
