Copper Cliff Public School Makes Donation to Pennies For Pediatrics
Sudbury –Students at Copper Cliff
Public School have presented a cheque for $1041.16 to the Pennies For Pediatrics
campaign at Health Sciences North/Horizon Santé-Nord (HSN).
Pennies For Pediatrics is an initiative
of the HSN Volunteer Association, in cooperation with HSN Volunteer Services.
The goal of Pennies For Pediatrics is
to raise $100,000 for the construction of a Snoezelen® Pool, which uses special
sound and lighting for the treatment of children with developmental conditions
such as autism.
"Our goal was to raise money for a
local charity that supports children," says Chris Bourré, Principal of
Copper Cliff Public School. "When the Pennies for Pediatrics
campaign was announced, it was a perfect fit! Our kids welcome the opportunity
to give back to the community, and they held lots of great events to raise the
money, like pyjama days and wacky hair days."
“This is an amazing accomplishment on
the part of Copper Cliff Public School,” adds Jeff Sampson, Clinical Manager of
HSN’s Children’s Treatment Centre. “It is wonderful to see kids helping other
kids in our community, in very creative ways.”
