Creative Quilting at Central Manitoulin Public School

Primary and Junior Quilt Club participants at Central Manitoulin Public School recently gathered with their local quilt mentors to showcase their work. The Primary Quilt Club made a three-by-three quilt measuring 18 inches squared. The Junior Quilt Club designed a 36-inch square quilt using squares or half square triangles. “All of their patterns were different and creative,” said Central Manitoulin Public School Principal Tracey Chapman. ”Their individuality shone through their work.” The Quilt Clubs met on Mondays after school from 3:30 pm to 5 pm. They were assisted by Carol Sheppard, Sarah Hutchinson, Marion Sheppard, Annabelle Smeltzer, Wanda Whittington, Kim Mann, Audrey Haggert, Linda Haggart, Christine Nollert, Shelia Schuette, Joe Price, Kristen Nelson and Mary White. “The students are so lucky to have these local quilters come into the school, spend time with them, and teach them a valuable skill,” said Principal Chapman. “We thank them for being such wonderful mentors.”
