Danielle Williamson appointed Superintendent of Schools

Rainbow District School Board Director of Education, Bruce Bourget, is pleased to announce the appointment of Danielle Williamson as Superintendent of Schools effective Monday, January 5, 2026. Superintendent Williamson will oversee Special Education Programs and Services in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island.

With more than 24 years of experience as an educator and administrator in elementary and secondary schools, Danielle Williamson is well prepared to assume this senior leadership role. Most recently, she served as Principal of Special Education Programs and Services, championing inclusive environments for students and staff at a system-wide level.

“Danielle Williamson is a highly respected educator and administrator, with tremendous knowledge, skills, energy and enthusiasm,” said Director Bourget. “Her leadership experience, collaborative approach, and dedication to student success will ensure that we continue to provide opportunities for all students to achieve their full potential.”

Since joining the Board in 2001, Danielle Williamson has led diverse teams, implemented board priorities, contributed to professional learning, and supported the growth of future leaders, a hallmark of her leadership.

“I am passionate about ensuring equitable access to learning and supporting students with diverse needs,” said Superintendent Williamson. “Integral to student success are the caring adults who support them. I look forward to working with trustees, administrators, staff, students, families and community partners in our shared goal of improving outcomes for all learners.”

In addition to being an advocate for students with special needs, Superintendent Williamson has focused on developing strong reading, writing and math skills in students. She also values mental health, equity and inclusion as a cornerstone to student achievement and well-being.

Danielle Williamson has served as Principal of R.H. Murray Public School, Chelmsford Public School, and Princess Anne Public School. She was also the first Principal of the revitalized K to 12 school in Chelmsford, Chelmsford Valley District Composite School.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree from Laurentian University, Danielle Williamson completed a Bachelor of Teaching at the University of Western Sydney, Australia. She also has a Master of International Education in School Leadership from Charles Sturt University, Australia, along with additional qualifications in Special Education, Guidance and Leadership.
