#DesjardinsFoundation prizes to benefit local youth
Sudbury, January 31, 2018: The Desjardins Foundation has awarded $2,950 to Lasalle Secondary School for a unique project – Escape Room style games based on the mathematics curriculum.
“Teachers will work together to create the interactive and exciting Escape Room style games for the mathematics classroom,” said Heather Boychuk, Program Leader of Mathematics at Lasalle Secondary School.
“This is a very unique learning experience, the kind of engagement students are craving,” added Lasalle Secondary School Principal Maureen McNamara. “We are most grateful to the Desjardins Foundation for supporting teaching and learning at Lasalle Secondary School.”
#DesjardinsFoundation Prizes are for teachers and other professionals in schools and organizations who wish to carry out a project that will benefit children and students in our communities. This year the Foundation received 1,127 applications, 15% more than last year.
“It’s incredibly moving to see what teachers and other community leaders are doing to motivate and inspire our students. It’s an honour to support them and we hope to contribute to even more projects next year,” said Jean-Marc Spencer, Executive Director at Desjardins Voyageurs Credit Union.
