Evolutionary Band vocalists invited to join Johnny Reid on stage

Three vocalists from Confederation Secondary School’s Evolutionary Band will join Johnny Reid on stage at the Sudbury Arena on Thursday, March 10, 2016. The tour’s management and MusicCounts, a national organization that supports music education, invited Tracey McDavid, Margrit McGlade and Chayka McInnis to be part of the show.

“Our vocalists have started rehearsals in preparation for their debut,” says music teacher Norm McIntosh. “They are so excited to be part of Johnny Reid’s visit to our city. It is an honour and privilege to be asked to contribute.”

Since arriving on the music scene over 10 years ago, Johnny Reid has captured the hearts of fans and audiences around the world.

“The audience will not only get to see a highly acclaimed performer, they will also catch a glimpse of some of the up and coming talent right here at home,” says McIntosh. “We are grateful to MusicCounts and the managers of the Johnny Reid tour for making this opportunity possible for our students. Their support of music education is very much appreciated.”

Evolutionary launches its 36th season on Friday, March 11, 2016 with a concert at Confederation Secondary School at noon. They will perform songs by Journey, Shinedown, AC/DC, Foo Fighters, Hedley, and more to over 600 elementary students from the Greater Sudbury area.

Evolutionary is a 24-piece rock band that includes three vocalists, a nine-piece rhythm section and a 10-piece rock horn section supported by a 12-member stage crew. As Action Sudbury’s No Drinking and Driving Band, Evolutionary has earned a solid reputation for its dynamic performances.

The band tours from March until June, performing in front of more than 8,000 students per year. Their shows include a high-energy, choreographed presentation with an exciting light display including lasers, strobes, smoke machines and intelligent lighting.
